Do you celebrate National Pizza Day, because you should this year! Stop by these South Bend businesses for some handcrafted pizza.

Move over Valentine's Day. There's another huge but largely missed holiday this month: National Pizza Day. Celebrated on February 9, there's no better day to chomp down on some comforting crust, a heavenly array of toppings, and warm, cheesy goodness. As the second most popular fast food in the U.S., there's no denying the love of this cheesy disc is very real. Whether you prefer thin crust or deep dish, our real estate agents have rounded up some of the best pizza spots in South Bend to celebrate.

  • Barnaby's South Bend - 713 E Jefferson Blvd.
Right across the street from beautiful South Bend homes for sale is one of The Bend's best pizza places, Barnaby's. After 50 years in business, Barnaby's South Bend has fully cemented their reputation as one of the most popular pizza spots, and have earned the South bend Tribune's Reader's Choice award every year since 2003. They offer thin crust pizzas with a wide range of toppings, including sausage, pepperoni, cheese, pineapple, and fresh vegetables. The sourdough crust is one of the best in this corner of Indiana. Between the pew-like seating, dark wood-paneled walls, and dimmed lighting, Barnaby's decor is reminiscent of an Olde English pub.
  • Rocco's Original Pizza - 537 N Saint Louis Blvd.
Built on love, family, and tradition, Rocco's is a popular haven for Italian-style comfort food. Still helmed by the family that opened it in 1951, Rocco's uses recipes from the Italian peninsula region, making everything from scratch, including handmade pizza dough, homemade sausages, and sauces with fresh artisan ingredients. Their menu features Cheese Pizza, Hawaiian Pizza, Rocco's Combo, and Rocco's Veggie Combo. Traditional tortellini, lasagna, ravioli, gnocchi, pasta, and meatballs are additional menu choices to enjoy. The lovely atmosphere and fine decor are a big part of Rocco's charm. Visit to celebrate National Pizza Day with the family that brought pizza to South Bend.
  • Bruno's Pizza – 131 S Michigan St.
Celebrate your love for pizza at Bruno's Pizza. Opened in 1979, Bruno's has been serving some of the most authentic pizzas around. Whether you are looking for a full-sized pie or a single slice, Bruno's has you covered. Their menu offers four varieties, including Gourmet Pizza – DeCicco Style (with no Mozzarella), Gourment Pizza – Ward Style, Combination, and Veggie Combo. Any way you slice it, you'll definitely find something to satisfy that pizza craving.

  • The Volcano Restaurant – 3700 Lincoln Way W.
Don't let National Pizza Day pass you by without a trip to The Volcano Restaurant. Entrenched on Lincoln Way for nearly 30 years, The Volcano is still making pizza the traditional way. They make their own dough from scratch daily and still toss it in the air. The front window acts as an attraction for customers who get to watch the pizza makers knead and toss the dough up in the air. If you're in for the wafting aroma of pizza dough and traditional, well-executed pizza, The Volcano stands out in both areas.

  • Lacopo's Pizzeria - 3004 Ardmore Trail
As you drive west on Lincoln Way, you're likely to spot a small brick building tucked under a tree. This has been home to Lacopo's Pizzeria for more than 25 years. Lacopo's is dedicated to making amazing pies with high-quality ingredients and creative toppings. While the standard cheese and pepperoni are available, you'll also find pizzas dressed up with nontraditional but exciting toppings. And watch out for their unique Italian homemade sausage, which is one of their most popular ingredients.  Grab your friends and family and head down to Lacopo's Pizzeria for lunch or stop to pick up some carry-out dinner on the way home.

South Bend and the surrounding areas are great places to eat, shop, and get out and about. Contact us to learn more about life in Northern Indiana, and we'll help you find the home you've been dreaming of.
